Travel Experiences
"Don't just GO somewhere. EXPERIENCE somewhere." Travel Goal Getter
We've taken the liberty to re-invent the conventional "bucket-list" into something called Travel Experiences. Don't get me wrong, we love life goal lists. It's just that bucket-lists have been around for awhile and, as related to travel, deserve a makeover! There are a couple of reasons behind the Travel Experiences revolution. For one, bucket-lists inherently imply that one is working towards an end (you know, before you "kick the bucket"). Here's a new way of thinking and our mind-set shift; Don't strive on completing things before you die by working towards an end. Instead, strive on working towards completing things while you are alive! Have experiences! A more positive spin on it, right? Secondly, bucket-lists are limited in their scope. For example, let's say you want to visit China. China would likely go on your bucket-list but where and how do you keep track of the things you want to experience while in China? You may or may not want to put those experiences on your bucket-list for fear your bucket-list would get too long, unmanageable, and just plain discouraging. After all, it is a lifetime bucket list. A to-do list might be appropriate but I would argue that a to-do list is better suited for mundane things like around the house chores or weekend errands. Your travel goals and the experiences you have when you travel are important and often life-changing. Don't they deserve a special name of their own? Why not create individual experience lists for the places you want to go.
I'm not a travel therapist but I bet if you start thinking about travel in terms of creating experiences, your travels and the things you set out to do when you travel will be much more rich and meaningful. Don't just go somewhere. Experience somewhere! Travel is much much more than just continents visited, countries visited, and states visited. Travel is about the unique experiences. Share your most memorable travel experiences below so we may share them with the world! Take a look at our Travel Experiences Map which lists some of our members most memorable travel experiences. We certainly didn't invent the idea of travel experiences but we have incorporated the concept into the Travel Goal Getter iPad App. Called My Experiences or myXPs for short, travelers can keep track of travel experiences in one place and create multiple experience lists. See the travel app in action by visiting our iPad App page. There you'll find screen shots and short video tutorials to learn how to get the most out of the app. For tips on how to achieve travel goals please see our Achieving Goals page.
Thank you to Audrey Reynolds at Be Your Own Travel Hero for first inspiring us with the idea of Travel Experiences! We will be forever grateful! |
