FAQ
What defines "visiting" a state or country?
Travel Goal Getter defines "visiting" as setting foot on the ground of that state/country and "breathing" the air. We do not consider having a lay-over at an airport as a visit. However, going outside of the airport is acceptable. Some members have arranged for a long lay-over, then rented a car by-the-hour to be able to see more of the city/state/country. Flying over a state/country does not count. Members may, of course, set their own guidelines and Travel Goal Getter will not deny membership for a traveler who is adhering to their own individual guidelines (even if they count the airport layover as a visit!). Some prefer not to count a state/country unless they have spent the night in that state/country. Any extra guidelines set may be noted in the comments section on the membership application. We'd love to hear how our members define a visit!
How can you certify someone has visited all 50 states or a certain number of countries/continents without any proof?
Travel Goal Getter is about celebrating a fantastic achievement! Requiring "proof" creates unnecessary work for all. We are not an auditing firm and trust the vetting process and honesty to our members!
Can I purchase a membership/certificate/plaque as a gift?
Yes. A gift membership is a great idea for friends or family who have made this accomplishment. On the application form - in the comments section - please note that it is a gift membership and if there is a different address you would like the certificate mailed to.
Do I have to apply as an individual or can I apply as a couple?
You may apply as a couple or group. For example, a certificate can be made out to the "Jones Family" and the family would be listed in the Membership Register as the "Jones Family, Phoenix, Arizona."
Returns
We do not accept returns due to the personalized nature of the certificates and plaques unless the item is damaged or a name was spelled incorrectly. However, we do want you to be satisfied so please e-mail or call with any concerns to see how we can remedy the situation.
